Chuandong Xie
Research Fellow in Structural Engineering, University of Aberdeen
I am a structural engineering researcher working at the intersection of resilient structural systems, metal additive manufacturing, structural optimisation, computational mechanics, and data-driven engineering.
I obtained my PhD in Structural Engineering from Xi’an University of Architecture & Technology in 2024.
My research integrates large-scale experimental testing, finite element analysis, nonlinear dynamics, machine learning and explainable AI to understand structural behaviour and develop resilience-oriented engineering solutions.
I have experience in post-event structural investigation, scientific programming and industry-engaged engineering, alongside university teaching, supervision and interdisciplinary research collaboration.
